Astrology and Wave Theory

Introduction

It appears to have been the habit of many Astrologers to distance themselves from modern mysticism in recent times. It also appears to have been the case that many Astrologers have distanced themselves from modern physics as well.

I believe that the ancients combined the very best of their mystical and metaphysical talent with the very best of their physical understanding, to produce what we have come to see as our astrological heritage.

I believe it is the marked difference in both the metaphysics and physics of the modern era from their ancient counterparts, which has caused many Astrologers to back away from these sciences. They have nurtured their craft in isolation as a metaphysical tool in its own right. This they have done to great effect I might add.

This being the case, there is a strong case for a renewed scientific and spiritual approach to astrology, a brining together again of the physics and metaphysics of our time in the unique format of the Astrological chart.

Axial Harmonic Resonance is a serious look at aspect interpretation using what we now know of modern wave theory, and particularly the phenomenon of harmonic resonance. The mathematics is simple enough, but the calculations are many by any standards. The prevalence of the use of computers amongst astrologers now makes complicated mathematical analysis both possible and assessable.

This investigation is based on the premise that cosmic energy can be described as a vibration.

Astrology and Cosmic Vibration

In just about every form of mystical experience known to mankind, the energy of the Cosmos in relation to the individual is described in terms of either light, colour, sound, music or just vibes. All of these manifestations have a common thread ..... each can be investigated, when encountered in physical science, using wave theory.

The discoveries of atomic theory and modern theoretical physics have shown us that all matter is in fact energy in various configurations. This energy is orbital, elliptical and vibrant in a similar (though not the same) fashion to which the Cosmos is.

With this in mind, it takes a very small stretch of the imagination, then to suggest that the motion of our planets around our Sun can indeed be described in terms of vibration. Quantifying that vibration is not yet possible, certainly not with current scientific instruments.

Wave theory is very useful at the atomic level. Electricity is a direct function of the use of wave theory to enhance the properties of material energy. Nuclear energy is the direct result of disruption of the atomic energy matrix.... the destruction of one vibrational matrix to create another if you like.

I would strongly suggest that the Astrological chart, with its applied use of phase and aspected influence, is actually the instrument with which this Cosmic vibration is measured. We may never literally quantify the vibration, but I believe we have been measuring it for at least 6000 years. Convincing either the scientist, or the traditional Astrologer of this may be a little way off yet.

Making Use of Cosmic Vibration

Using Cosmic energy to enhance ones lifestyle, as well as ones mystical and metaphysical experience is, to me, what Astrology is all about.

The natal Astrology chart is a reading of the cosmic energy matrix at the time of birth, displaying the inter-relationship between cosmic influences at that time, providing a map of the 'psyche' of the native relative to the cosmic whole.

It is in our relationship with the Cosmic whole that the mysteries of the mind are given purpose and direction. This has been the premise of every form of spiritual wisdom with which I am familiar. It is certainly the underpinning truth of those which I practice.

It has also underpinned most religions, with the added material constraints of power and fear .... unfortunately.

By reading the Cosmic energy matrix at any given time, the enlightened Astrologer can assist the inquiring soul in the engagement of the Cosmic flow, as it relates to them personally, to the greater community, and as a part of the greater Cosmos.

In my study of Astrology, I have found Axial Harmonic Resonance to very accurately describe the psyche and behaviour patterns of the individuals concerned ...... a thorough reading will reveal many aspects of the individual's make-up behaviour and approach to life which other methods seem to miss.

The use of cosmic energy combinations can be of great benefit when learning to direct and use spiritual energy. A thorough understanding of this method is required to interpret this aspect of the method correctly.

I have had more than one astrologer say to me ... 'this explains something for which I have found no other description'.

Midpoints and Wave theory

In making use of wave theory in the analytical process of the Astrological chart, I have found, like many others, that midpoints hold the key to balancing the energies of specific planetary pairs. The midpoint will display the area of life in which the pair is activated as a pair (the pair forms a unique energy combination, a composite of the two original energies), and will also hold the key to solution of a problematic aspect (or non-aspect) manifestation.

The theoretical basis for this is that the midpoint is the meeting place of the two energies involved, and forms the baseline of the combined energy wave, thus holding the key to the analysis of the pair as a unique energy type. The combined energy wave is directly affected by the harmonic grouping of the aspect between the planetary pair, the harmonic grouping will determine the style in which this combined energy is manifest, while the midpoint defines the area of life within which the combined energy is most prevalent.

What midpoint analysis and harmonic synthesis do for the natal chart is to provide a clear mathematical description of a natal chart which is less reliant on external definitions of influence. Each chart becomes unique. In this way, the only two charts which will interpret precisely the same are those for precisely the same moment in space and time. Allowance, in that case, has to be made for the use each individual has made of their energy matrix, as is the case with every meaningful interpretation.

To sum up then, Axial Harmonic Resonance is a unique combination of physics and metaphysics, combining the first principles of Astrology with the basic principles of harmonic resonance, to produce a mathematically consistent method for interpreting the natal chart.
